Case IH 3758 (DTC E3DD) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): ECU Internal Failure - Post injection efficiency failure

This is a Level 2 Monitoring fault generated by the engine controller. It indicates that the ECU has detected an internal calculation error or dataset corruption specifically related to the 'PoI3 efficiency factor' (Post Injection 3 efficiency). When this occurs, the ECU forces a torque request limitation (derate) or an Injection Cut-Off (ICO) to protect the engine.

   Check engine state for severe power loss or forced low idle (use Emergency Re-start function if needed to move machine safely)

   Scan for accompanying codes, specifically Master-Slave communication faults or fuel pressure plausibility faults

   Verify if the issue is a software glitch, as this is an internal calculation/efficiency factor error rather than a hard mechanical failure

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Reload the Engine Dataset

   Flash/reload the engine controller with the latest software dataset.

   Clear fault codes and test

   Clear the fault codes and perform a test run to see if the fault persists.

   Replace the ECU

   If the fault persists after the software reload, the Engine Controller has suffered a permanent internal failure and must be replaced.

   Restore Parameters

   If the EDC/ECU is replaced, you must follow the appropriate EST service tool procedure to program the blank module and restore the engine's Self-Learning Parameters.
