Case IH 3758 – Engine Controller (EDC / ECU): EDC - Level 2 Monitoring: Diagnosis fault check to report the error to demand for an ICO due to an error in the PoI3 efficiency factor.
Issue description
An internal software/plausibility error within the engine's control module regarding the 'PoI3' (Post Injection 3) efficiency factor. Because of this internal fault, the system demands an ICO (Injection Cut-Off or Idle Control Override) to protect the engine.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Farmall
- Steiger T4B
- Skid Steer Loaders (SSL)
- Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
- SR175
Check the cause
Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port
Verify the presence of code 3758 (often accompanied by an Amber warning light)
Check if the engine controller is communicating properly and if any dataset updates or flashes are available for the specific machine
Repair steps
Reload the Engine Dataset
Using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST), re-flash or reload the engine dataset to the Engine Controller.
Clear and Retest
Clear the fault codes and cycle the key to see if the Level 2 Monitoring fault returns.
Replace the Controller
If the fault persists after the dataset has been successfully reloaded, the Engine Controller (EDC) has suffered an internal hardware/memory failure and must be replaced.
Restore Parameters
If the EDC is replaced, you must follow the appropriate service tool procedure in the EST to restore the engine's Self-Learning Parameters.
Parts you might need
(1)Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) Module
Specific part numbers vary heavily based on the exact machine model and emission tier. Must be programmed with the correct engine dataset and self-learning parameters using the CNH EST software.
