Case IH 3759 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): ECU internal failure - Torque request due to fuel pressure exceeds maximum torque limit

The engine controller detects an internal calculation error or functional limitation where the requested torque (based on fuel pressure or air path calculations) exceeds the maximum safe operating limit programmed into the module.

   Verify if the error is active or temporary (temporary errors can sometimes be ignored or cleared)

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port

3. 3

   Check for any accompanying fuel pressure or air path sensor codes, as the ECU relies on these to calculate torque

   Attempt a software reflash before replacing any hard parts

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Reload the Engine Dataset (reflash the ECU software).

   This corrects any corrupted Level 2 monitoring parameters.

   Clear the fault codes and run the engine to verify if the code returns.

   If the fault persists after reloading the engine dataset, the Engine Controller (EDC) has suffered a permanent internal failure and must be replaced.

   Physically remove the old Engine Controller and install the replacement unit.

   Connect the EST to the new EDC and follow the appropriate service tool procedure to restore the engine's Self Learning Parameters and flash the correct machine dataset.
