3759

Case IH 3759 – Engine ECU (EDC): Level 2 Monitoring Failure / ECU Monitoring Discrepancy

Issue description

The engine controller has detected an internal software or hardware monitoring discrepancy, indicating a current or air path limitation forced by ECU monitoring, or a master-slave communication fault on V-shaped engines.

Applies to these machines

  • Farmall
  • skid steer
  • Skid Steer Loaders (SSL)
  • Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
  • Steiger
  • Magnum
  • Puma
  • Maxxum
  • Wheel Loaders (1021F, 721F)
  • Crawler Dozers
  • Patriot sprayers

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the machine's battery voltage is stable, as voltage drops can trigger false internal monitoring faults.

  2. Inspect the main harness connectors to the Engine ECU to ensure they are clean, tight, and free of corrosion.

  3. For V-engine configurations, check the CAN-bus network for excessive load or communication errors between the Master and Slave controllers.

  4. Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify that fault code 3759 is active rather than stored.

Repair steps

  1. Reload the Engine Dataset

Using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST), re-flash the Engine ECU with the latest engine dataset (software calibration) provided by CNH.

  2. Clear and Retest

Clear the fault codes, cycle the machine's key, and run the engine to see if code 3759 returns.

  3. Replace the EDC

If the fault persists after the software reload, the internal hardware of the Engine Controller has failed and the unit must be replaced.

  4. Restore Self-Learning Parameters

Install the new or remanufactured EDC. You must use the Case IH EST to program the new controller to the machine and run the specific service tool procedure to 'Restore Self Learning Parameters' so the new ECU can learn the engine's specific injector trim codes and sensor baselines.
