Case IH 3760 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Reload Engine Dataset Or Replace Engine Controller If Fault Persists (Level 2 Monitoring)
Issue description
The engine controller has detected an internal monitoring discrepancy or dataset corruption (often related to air path logic) that forces the ECU into a protective state.
Applies to these machines
9 machines- Farmall
- skid steer
- Skid Steer Loaders (SSL)
- Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
- Farmall 105N
- Farmall 110C
- Case CE Backhoe Loader 580N
- Case CE Backhoe Loader 580SN
- Case CE Backhoe Loader 590SN
Check the cause
Check for any other active sensor faults (e.g., MAP, MAF, or EGR sensors) that might be forcing the ECU into this state
Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the current software version on the EDC
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.
Reload Dataset
Use the EST to reload the engine dataset (reflash the ECU with the correct software calibration).
Verify
Clear the fault codes, cycle the key, and run the engine to see if the fault returns.
Replace EDC (If Necessary)
If fault code 3760 persists after the dataset has been successfully reloaded, the Engine Controller (EDC) has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.
Restore Parameters
If the EDC is replaced, you must use the CNH EST to perform the specific service tool procedure to 'Restore Self Learning Parameters' to the new module so it can adapt to the engine's injectors and sensors.
