Case IH 3765 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC (Electronic Diesel Control): Diesel Particulate filter Pressure sensor : Fault check for Hose line connection
Issue description
The system has detected an implausible reading from the DPF differential pressure sensor, strongly suggesting that the physical hose/line connecting the sensor to the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is disconnected, leaking, melted, or blocked by soot.
Applies to these machines
1 machine- Case IH agricultural tractors and construction equipment equipped with Tier 4 / Stage IV or newer emissions systems that utilize a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
Check the cause
Locate the DPF differential pressure sensor and visually inspect the high-temp hoses connecting it to the DPF
Check the hoses for cracks, melting, or complete disconnection
Remove the hoses and check for hard carbon/soot blockages inside the lines or at the DPF connection ports
Inspect the 3-pin electrical connector at the sensor for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or wire chafing
Use a diagnostic tool to monitor the DPF pressure sensor's live data to ensure pressure changes dynamically as engine RPM increases
Repair steps
Cool Down
Ensure the engine is off and the DPF/exhaust system has completely cooled down to prevent severe burns.
Remove Hoses
Disconnect the hose clamps securing the lines to the DPF pressure sensor and the exhaust pipe.
Clear or Replace Lines
Blow compressed air through the metal/silicone lines to ensure they are clear of soot. If the hoses are brittle, cracked, or melted, replace them with high-temperature OEM-spec emissions hoses.
Clean Ports
Carefully clear any soot buildup from the metal nipples on the DPF housing using a pick or wire brush.
Replace Sensor (if necessary)
If the lines were perfectly intact and clear, the sensor diaphragm has likely failed. Unplug the electrical connector, unbolt the sensor from its mounting bracket, and install the new sensor.
Reassembly
Reconnect the hoses. Crucial note: Ensure you do not swap the upstream (high pressure) and downstream (low pressure) lines, as this will immediately trigger plausibility faults.
Clear and Test
Clear the fault code 3765 via the diagnostic tool and perform a forced stationary DPF regeneration or a loaded test drive to verify the repair.
