Case IH 3766 (F-3251-02) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU / EDC / ECM): Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Pressure Sensor: Fault check for the pressure sensor plausibility.

The Engine Control Unit is receiving a signal from the DPF differential pressure sensor that is "implausible" (illogical or out of the expected range for the current engine operating conditions). This usually indicates a failed sensor, a blocked/leaking sensor hose, or a wiring issue.

   Visually inspect the DPF differential pressure sensor, its electrical connector, and the wiring harness for corrosion, melting, or physical damage.

   Check the rubber/metal hoses connecting the sensor to the DPF exhaust pipes for cracks, leaks, or blockages caused by soot buildup.

   With the battery on and engine off, use a multimeter to back-probe the sensor wires. Verify that the sensor is receiving a steady 5-volt reference signal from the ECU and has a solid ground.

   Perform a zero-point plausibility check using a diagnostic scan tool (e.g., CNH EST). With the engine stopped, live data for DPF differential pressure should read at or very close to 0. A high pressure reading indicates an internally shorted or stuck sensor.

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal.

   Locate the DPF differential pressure sensor mounted near the exhaust/DPF assembly.

   Carefully disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor.

   Release the retaining clips and disconnect the pressure hoses from the sensor.

   Note which hose goes to which port (upstream vs. downstream).

   Unbolt the sensor bracket and remove the faulty sensor.

   Install the new sensor and secure the mounting bolts.

   Reattach the pressure hoses to their correct ports and ensure the clips are tight to prevent exhaust leaks.

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Reconnect the battery.

    Use a diagnostic service tool to clear the fault codes and perform a "New adaptation of measured soot value" (or restore self-learning parameters).

    The ECU must learn the zero-point of the new sensor.

    Take the machine for a short test drive under load with the diagnostic tool connected to verify that the differential pressure values are now plausible and the code does not return.

    Note: OEM manuals state that if the fault persists after sensor replacement and dataset reloading, Level 2 monitoring may require replacing the Engine Controller itself, though this is rare.
