Case IH 3795 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Intake air pressure sensor : Plausibility Check for air pressure at the upstream of intake valve sensor.
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit is receiving an illogical or out-of-range signal from the intake air pressure (boost pressure) sensor. The ECU runs a plausibility check by comparing the intake manifold pressure reading against other system pressures (such as the atmospheric pressure sensor). If the values do not align—for example, if the boost pressure does not match atmospheric pressure when the engine is off—this fault is triggered.

Check the cause
Perform a Key-On, Engine-Off (KOEO) Test using an Electronic Service Tool (EST) to compare the Intake Air Pressure (Boost) Sensor reading to the Atmospheric Pressure Sensor reading. They should be nearly identical with the engine off.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the boost pressure sensor for chafed wires, short circuits (to ground or power), or an open circuit.
Check the sensor connector pins for corrosion, bent pins, or loose connections.
Physically inspect the intake manifold and hoses for blockages, severe leaks, or detached lines that could cause an implausible pressure drop.
Remove the sensor and inspect the sensor port on the intake manifold to ensure it is clean and free of soot or debris buildup.
Repair steps
Prepare machine
Turn off the machine, remove the key, and allow the engine to cool.
Locate sensor
Locate the Intake Air Pressure / Boost Pressure Sensor on the intake manifold (often located just above the oil filter on larger engines like the 7010 combine).
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the sensor.
Remove retaining bolt
Remove the retaining bolt(s) securing the sensor to the manifold.
Remove sensor
Carefully pull the sensor out of the mounting port.
Clean port
Clean the mounting port on the intake manifold, ensuring no debris falls into the intake.
Install new sensor
Lubricate the O-ring/seal on the new sensor slightly to prevent tearing, and press the new sensor into the port.
Secure sensor
Install and tighten the retaining bolt to secure the sensor.
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the electrical harness connector.
Clear codes and verify
Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the fault codes and monitor live pressure readings to verify the plausibility check now passes.
