Case IH 3810 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Fuel pressure Sensor: Rail pressure raw value is intermittent.

The engine control unit is receiving an erratic, unstable, or dropping electrical signal from the sensor that monitors the high-pressure fuel rail.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the fuel rail pressure sensor for chafed wires, loose connections, or corrosion inside the connector pins.

   Verify that the sensor is receiving a steady 5-volt reference supply from the ECU.

   Check for physical fuel leaks in the high-pressure fuel system.

   Ensure the fuel filters are not clogged, as severe fuel restrictions can cause actual pressure fluctuations that the sensor reads as intermittent.

   Use a diagnostic scan tool to monitor the live raw voltage/pressure data from the fuel rail pressure sensor while wiggling the wiring harness to see if the signal drops out.

   Safety First

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Relieve Pressure

   Allow the engine to cool completely. Wait for the system pressure to bleed off before opening any lines.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the fuel rail pressure sensor, which is threaded directly into the high-pressure fuel rail on the engine block.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.

   Remove Sensor

   Carefully unscrew the faulty sensor from the fuel rail. Have a rag ready to catch any residual fuel.

   Install New Sensor

   Thread the new OEM fuel rail pressure sensor into the rail. Torque it to the exact specification outlined in your specific engine's service manual.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks and locks securely.

   Prime and Test

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position to allow the lift pump to prime the fuel system. Start the engine and check for leaks around the sensor threads.

   Clear Codes

   Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 3810 fault code from the ECU's memory.
