Case IH 3847 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Zero Fuel Calibration by Lambda (ZFL) : DFC reporting error state on comparing energizing time to Max value injector 4
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit has detected that the electrical energizing time required to operate Fuel Injector #4 has reached or exceeded its maximum allowed limit during the engine's zero-fuel calibration process. This is typically caused by incorrect injector programming (IQA code mismatch) or an internal mechanical/electrical defect within the injector.
Applies to these machines
9 machines- skid steer
- Farmall
- 115U Pro EP
- Maxxum
- Puma
- Steiger
- Magnum
- Case Skid Steer Loaders (SSL)
- Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
Check the cause
Verify Injector Programming: Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) / Easy-Engine software to the machine and read the programmed injector code for Cylinder 4 in the ECU.
Physical Match: Compare the code shown in the EST software to the alphanumeric calibration code physically printed on the top of Injector #4.
Check Wiring: Inspect the wiring harness and connector to Injector #4 for high resistance, corrosion, or damage.
Repair steps
Reprogram if Necessary
If the injector code in the ECU does not match the physical code on Injector #4 (often due to a previous ECU flash or improper replacement), use the EST to program the correct code into the ECU. Clear the fault and test run the engine.
Replace the Injector
If the programmed codes do match, the fault indicates an internal defect in Injector #4. Depressurize the fuel system and remove the faulty injector.
Install New Parts
Install a new OEM fuel injector into Cylinder 4. Always use new sealing washers and O-rings during installation.
Calibrate the New Injector
You must use the CNH EST software to program the new injector's specific alphanumeric calibration code into the ECU for Cylinder 4. Failure to do so will result in the code returning.
Final Test
Clear all stored fault codes and perform a test run to verify the repair.
