Case IH 3934 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Reserved For VCM (Vehicle Control Module)

The engine controller has received an error state over the CAN bus from the Vehicle Control Module (VCM), but the engine controller itself does not have a specific definition for the fault.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Access and scan the Vehicle Control Module (VCM) to read the specific active fault codes stored there.

   Check the CAN bus communication lines and wiring harnesses between the VCM and the ECU for damage, corrosion, or loose connections, as communication drops can sometimes trigger generic VCM faults.

   Verify battery voltage and ground connections to the VCM, as undervoltage can cause the VCM to broadcast errors to the engine controller.

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the CNH EST diagnostic tool and turn the ignition key to the ON position.
