Case IH 3967 – Engine ECU (Engine Controller): ISM-DI Injector Codes Not Written To ECU

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) is missing the specific injector calibration/adjustment values (IQA codes) in its memory. This condition typically occurs after an ECU replacement, a software flash/update, or if the ECU experiences a memory wipe or corruption.

   Verify recent service history to determine if the Engine ECU was recently replaced, reprogrammed, or if any fuel injectors were recently swapped.

   Check for related memory faults (such as 3968, 3969, 3970, or 3971) that might indicate a failed controller rather than just missing programming.

   Physically inspect the fuel injectors installed on the engine block and write down the calibration codes printed on the top or side of each injector.

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Establish communication

   Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine off) to establish communication with the Engine ECU.

   Navigate to programming menu

   Navigate to the Engine Controller programming/calibration menu within the EST software.

   Select programming routine

   Select the routine for 'Injector Adjustment Programming'.

   Enter calibration codes

   Manually enter the alphanumeric calibration codes you retrieved from the physical fuel injectors into the corresponding cylinder fields in the EST software.

   Save/write the parameters to the ECU.

   Cycle the ignition key off, wait for the ECU to power down, and turn it back on. Rescan the system to verify that fault code 3967 has changed to inactive or cleared entirely.
