Case IH 4002 – DV Module / ARU: Signal of Aux-stick (AUX1) - out of range high (DV module only)

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the Auxiliary 1 (AUX1) joystick or paddle that exceeds the maximum permissible threshold (typically near or above the 5V reference limit).

   Visually inspect the armrest console wiring harness leading to the AUX1 stick for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected plugs.

   Perform a ground circuit test: Disconnect the AUX1 joystick connector and check for continuity to ground on the sensor ground pin (an open ground is the most common cause).

   Perform a signal wire test: With the key ON (engine off), check the signal wire at the harness connector for voltage. If it reads a hard 5V or 12V with the sensor unplugged, the signal wire is shorted to a power source.

   Perform a live data sweep: If wiring is intact, use a diagnostic tool to monitor the AUX1 signal voltage live while moving the stick. If voltage remains stuck high regardless of physical position, the joystick sensor has failed internally.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Armrest

   Remove the retaining screws for the armrest control console cover to expose the auxiliary joystick modules.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector specifically routed to the AUX1 control stick.

   Wiring Repair (If Applicable)

   If diagnostics revealed a broken ground or shorted signal wire, repair the harness using OEM-approved splice connectors and heat shrink.

   Component Replacement

   If the wiring is good, unscrew the mounting bracket holding the faulty AUX1 joystick/paddle in place. Drop the new OEM joystick into the slot and secure the mounting screws.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical plug and reinstall the armrest console cover.

   Reconnect Power

   Reconnect the negative battery cable.

   Calibration

   Power on the tractor. You must perform a remote valve/joystick calibration procedure via the tractor's display monitor (or via the H8 calibration menu on older models) so the DV module can learn the exact neutral, maximum raise, and maximum lower voltage values of the new sensor.
