Case IH 4006 – DV Module: Signal of Aux-stick (AUX2) - out of range high (DV module only)

The control module is receiving a signal voltage from the Auxiliary Stick 2 (the paddle or joystick controlling remote valve #2) that exceeds the maximum permissible limit. This typically indicates a short to power in the sensor circuit, a failed potentiometer/sensor within the control stick, or a wiring harness issue.

   Check the AUX2 paddle/joystick on the armrest for physical damage, binding, or sticking. Ensure it returns to the neutral position smoothly.

   Access the underside of the armrest console and disconnect the harness to the AUX2 stick. Inspect the connector for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins.

   Use a multimeter to check the signal wire between the AUX2 stick and the DV module/Armrest controller for a short to a power source (which would cause the high out-of-range signal).

   Test the potentiometer/sensor resistance sweep on the AUX2 stick to see if the internal resistance spikes out of range or shows an open/shorted circuit.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Controls

   Remove the retaining screws on the armrest console cover to expose the auxiliary stick controls and their wiring.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the wiring harness connector specifically routed to the AUX2 stick/paddle.

   Remove the Faulty Component

   Remove the mounting hardware holding the AUX2 stick assembly in the armrest bracket.

   Install the Replacement

   Seat the new AUX2 stick/paddle into the armrest and secure it with the mounting hardware.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the connector clicks into place, and reinstall the armrest console cover.

   Clear Codes and Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key on. Use the tractor's diagnostic menu or an electronic service tool to clear the 4006 fault code. Depending on the tractor model, you may need to perform a remote valve/armrest calibration procedure so the controller learns the new potentiometer's minimum and maximum voltage values.
