Case IH 4008 – DV Module (Draft/Valve Module): Signal from Remote valve 2 Timer Pot 1 - out of range

The signal voltage coming from the potentiometer, which is used by the operator to set the hydraulic flow time duration for auxiliary remote valve #2, is falling outside of the module's expected electrical parameters (either shorted to ground, shorted to power, or suffering an open circuit).

   Inspect the physical condition of the Remote Valve 2 timer knob on the armrest console to ensure it is not physically broken, jammed, or spinning freely beyond its stops.

   Access the underside of the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness and connector going to the potentiometer. Look for chafed wires, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

   Using a multimeter, verify that the potentiometer is receiving a steady 5V reference signal and a good ground from the DV module.

   Back-probe the signal wire and slowly turn the timer knob. The voltage should sweep smoothly without dropping out, spiking, or showing 'out of range' extremes (typically below 0.5V or above 4.5V). If the voltage drops out or is stuck, the potentiometer is internally faulty.

   Turn off the tractor key and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical damage.

   Remove the retaining screws to open the armrest control console and access the underside of the remote valve control switches.

   Locate the potentiometer for Remote Valve 2 (often grouped with Valve 1).

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the faulty potentiometer.

   Remove the knob from the top of the console, then remove the retaining nut or bracket holding the potentiometer in place.

   Remove the old potentiometer and install the replacement part, securing it with the retaining nut.

   Reattach the control knob and plug in the electrical connector.

   Reassemble the armrest console and reconnect the tractor's battery.

   Turn the key on and clear the inactive fault codes.

    Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu and perform the remote valve calibration procedure.

    Often the 'H' routines, depending on the model, so the DV module can learn the minimum and maximum voltage values of the new potentiometer.
