Case IH 4011 – DV Module / ARU: Signal from Remote Flow potentiometer 3 (AUX 3) out of range (DV module only)
Issue description
The signal voltage coming from the rotary potentiometer used to set the hydraulic flow rate for the 3rd auxiliary remote valve (AUX 3) is outside of its acceptable calibrated parameters.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the AUX 3 flow potentiometer on the armrest console for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins
Verify that the potentiometer is receiving the correct reference voltage (typically 5V) from the ARU/DV module
Check the signal wire for continuity between the potentiometer and the ARU/DV module, ensuring it is not shorted to ground or power
Perform a sweep test using a multimeter to measure the resistance or voltage output of the potentiometer while slowly turning the dial, looking for erratic jumps, dropouts, or dead spots
Check if the armrest controller has lost its calibration; a simple re-calibration via the tractor's display monitor can sometimes resolve out-of-range errors
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during disassembly.
Access the Armrest
Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the top cover of the armrest control console to expose the underside of the remote valve controls.
Disconnect
Locate the AUX 3 flow potentiometer (usually aligned with the 3rd remote lever/switch) and disconnect its electrical wiring harness.
Remove
Remove the retaining nut or mounting screws holding the potentiometer to the console housing and pull the faulty sensor out.
Install
Insert the new potentiometer, secure it with the mounting hardware, and reattach the control knob.
Reassemble
Reconnect the electrical harness, carefully route the wiring to prevent pinching, and reinstall the armrest cover.
Recalibrate
Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu. Perform the electro-hydraulic remote valve and armrest calibration procedure to teach the module the new potentiometer's minimum and maximum voltage values.
