Case IH 4019 – Hitch Controller: Invalid Configuration - Right Draft Pin voltage is outside the normal operating range
Issue description
The hitch controller is receiving a voltage signal from the right-hand draft pin (load sensor) that falls outside the expected operational parameters. This typically occurs because the tractor is not equipped with draft control but the controller was incorrectly calibrated to look for it, or there is a physical failure in the right draft pin sensor or its wiring.

Check the cause
Verify if the tractor is actually equipped with the hitch draft control feature to rule out a configuration error.
Check if the hitch controller software was recently updated or accidentally calibrated for draft mode instead of position-only mode.
Inspect the wiring harness and 3-pin connector at the right draft pin for moisture intrusion, corrosion, or physical damage.
Back-probe the sensor to test if the voltage is genuinely out of range or if the wiring harness is shorted to ground or power.
Repair steps
Correct the Calibration
If the tractor does not have draft control, access the hitch controller calibration menu and recalibrate the system for 'position control only.' This will clear the invalid configuration and resolve the code.
Clean and Dry Connectors
If equipped with draft control, disconnect the right draft pin sensor. Clean the connector with electrical contact cleaner, dry it thoroughly, and apply dielectric grease to address any moisture entering the wire hole.
Repair the Harness
If you find broken, chafed, or shorted wires between the draft pin and the hitch controller, repair the harness.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring is intact, the configuration is correct, and the voltage is still out of range, the internal potentiometer/load sensor in the draft pin has failed. Replace the right draft pin.
Recalibrate
After replacing the sensor, you must perform the Hitch Controller Calibration procedure for the system to learn the new sensor's baseline voltage.
Replace the Controller
As a last resort, if the code persists after replacing the sensor and verifying the wiring harness continuity, the hitch controller itself has failed and must be replaced.
