Case IH 4029 – HITCH Controller: Invalid Configuration - Left Draft Pin voltage is outside the normal operating range.
Issue description
The hitch controller has detected an invalid signal voltage from the left-hand draft pin sensor. This fault is triggered when the hitch controller is calibrated for draft control but detects a problem with the left draft pin signal. It can also occur if the tractor is not equipped with the hitch draft control feature, but the controller was incorrectly calibrated for it.
Applies to these machines
10 machines- MX Magnum
- STX Steiger
- Case IH Steiger / STX Series
- STX 325
- STX 430
- STX 435
- Case IH Magnum Series
- Magnum 215-340 Series 4
- TG Series
- T8.xxx Series
Check the cause
Verify if the tractor is actually equipped with draft control hardware (incorrect calibration cause)
Ensure the Hitch and Armrest controllers have matching calibrations
Inspect the hitch wiring harness leading to the left draft pin for shorts, open circuits, or moisture intrusion
Test the voltage at the left draft pin sensor (Pin C: power supply, Pin B: signal input, Pin A: ground)
Repair steps
Recalibrate if Unequipped
If the tractor does not have draft control, access the controller software and recalibrate the hitch for position control only to clear the invalid configuration.
Repair Wiring
If the tractor has draft control, disconnect the left draft pin sensor and inspect the connector. Clean any corrosion and dry out any moisture. Repair any damaged wiring in the harness.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring is intact and the controller is calibrated correctly, the left draft pin sensor has failed internally and must be replaced.
Recalibrate the Hitch
After replacing the draft pin sensor or repairing the wiring, clear the fault codes and perform the Hitch Controller Calibration procedure.
Alternative Bypass (Optional)
If the operator does not use draft sensing (e.g., only pulling implements that don't require it), an aftermarket "Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit" can be installed. This plugs into the harness to bypass the sensor, disabling draft sensing and preventing the code from returning.
