Case IH 4043 – Arm Rest Module (ARU): ARU Controller Fault (register check) (DV Module Only)

This is an internal hardware error. It means the microprocessor inside the controller failed its internal register (memory/logic) self-test.

   Check for accompanying codes that indicate a complete module failure or communication loss, such as 4042, 4044, 4045, or 14904.

   Test the main power (12V) and ground circuits feeding the Armrest Control Module. Voltage spikes or severe drops can sometimes cause memory/register faults to trigger erroneously.

   Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness connectors plugging into the ARU for bent pins, moisture, or corrosion.

   Clear the fault codes and retest. If code 4043 returns immediately upon key-on, the internal processor is permanently damaged and the module must be replaced.

   Disconnect power

   Turn off the key and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the ARU

   Remove the plastic trim and covers on the Multicontroller armrest console to expose the Armrest Control Module.

   Remove the module

   Carefully unplug the data bus and power connectors from the ARU. Unbolt the module from its mounting bracket.

   Install the new module

   Mount the replacement or remanufactured ARU and reconnect all wiring harnesses.

   Reassemble

   Reinstall the armrest covers and reconnect the battery.

   Configure and calibrate

   A new Armrest Control Module will be blank or set to factory defaults. Using the tractor's diagnostic display (H-menus), configure the module to the tractor's specific options and perform subsystem calibrations (e.g., EDC valve, transmission clutches, PTO torque sensor, and differential lock steering angle sensor).
