Case IH 4061 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Forward Pump Control Valves (Directional) Solenoid Right (A) Supply Open Circuit
Issue description
The control module has detected an open circuit in the electrical supply line to the right-hand forward directional control valve solenoid on the hydrostatic drive pump. This means the electrical signal is not completing its path, either due to a broken wire, a disconnected plug, or a burnt-out (open) solenoid coil. When this fault is active, the machine will likely fail to drive forward on the right side.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the right forward directional control valve solenoid for obvious breaks, chafing, or rodent damage.
Disconnect the plug at the solenoid and inspect the terminals for corrosion, moisture, bent pins, or wires that have pushed out of the back of the connector.
Using a multimeter set to Ohms (Ω), measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid coil. If the meter reads 'OL' (infinite resistance), the internal coil is broken (open).
If the coil tests good, check for continuity on the signal wire from the UCM to the solenoid connector, as well as the ground/return circuit, to identify a broken wire in the harness.
Repair steps
Prep the Machine
Park the machine on a level surface, lower the loader arms (or engage the cylinder lock), engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Pump
Lift the cab or open the rear access panels as required by your specific model to gain access to the hydrostatic tandem drive pump.
Remove the Faulty Solenoid
Disconnect the electrical connector from the right forward pump control solenoid. Remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem.
Install the New Solenoid
Slide the old coil off and slide the new coil onto the valve stem. Install and tighten the retaining nut to the manufacturer's torque specification (do not overtighten, or you may distort the valve spool).
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the electrical connector back into the new solenoid. Ensure the locking tab clicks into place. (If the harness was the issue, repair the broken wire using weather-sealed heat shrink butt connectors).
Test the System
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and check the diagnostic display. The code should move from "Active" to "Stored" or clear entirely. Test drive the machine to confirm proper right-side forward movement.
