Case IH 41 – TMF (Tractor Multifunction Controller): Hardware-to-software configuration mismatch

The system's hardware is electrically detecting the presence of 3-point hitch draft pins (load sensors on the lower link arms), but the software inside the Armrest Controller is configured for a tractor that does not have Electronic Draft Control (EDC).

   Verify Tractor Equipment: Physically inspect the lower link arms of the rear 3-point hitch to determine if the tractor was actually built with electronic draft sensing pins or standard solid pins.

   If the tractor HAS draft control: Check if the Armrest Controller has lost its configuration memory, experienced a voltage drop, or was incorrectly programmed during a previous service.

   If the tractor DOES NOT have draft control: Check the rear wiring harness where the draft pins would normally plug in for water intrusion, mud, or chafed wires shorting together, which can trick the module into thinking a sensor is plugged in.

   Check Connections: Inspect the CAN-bus and power connections between the TMF module and the Armrest Controller for bent pins or loose grounds.

   Turn key ON

   If the tractor is equipped with Draft Control: Turn the key to the ON position.

   Access configuration menu

   Access the tractor's configuration menu via the cab display monitor or connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Navigate to settings

   Navigate to the Armrest/Hitch configuration settings.

   Change configuration

   Change the tractor configuration to specify that the tractor IS equipped with draft control.

   Save and restart

   Save the settings, turn the key off for 30 seconds, and restart the tractor. Note: If the Armrest Controller repeatedly loses this setting after the tractor is shut off, the controller's internal memory has failed, and the Armrest Control Module must be replaced.

   Locate connectors

   If the tractor is NOT equipped with Draft Control: Locate the unused draft pin harness connectors at the rear of the tractor.

   Clean connectors

   Disconnect any dummy plugs. Clean the connectors thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner to remove moisture and debris.

   Inspect and repair wiring

   Inspect the wiring loom leading back to the TMF module for chafing or pinched wires that could cause a short to ground or power. Repair any damaged wires.

   Apply dielectric grease

   Apply dielectric grease to the connectors and cap them securely.

    Clear fault codes

    Clear the fault codes and cycle the key to verify the code does not return.
