4105-00 - VCM

Case IH 4105-00 - VCM – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) module or VCM (Vehicle Control Module): Rear Remote No.1 - Over Voltage

Issue description

Indicates an overvoltage condition on the Rear Remote Control Valve No. 1. The system has detected that the voltage supplied to the first rear remote valve exceeds the normal operating threshold, which can be caused by an external charging system issue, a short to power in the wiring harness, or an internal failure within the valve's electronic module.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH Magnum 235–340 (Series 4)
  • Case STX Steiger tractors (350 to 600 HP)
  • Case IH Puma series

Check the cause

  1. Check the tractor's alternator and charging system to ensure it is not overcharging and causing excessive system-wide voltage

  2. Inspect the wiring harness connection to the power supply for Rear Remote No. 1 for chafed wires shorting to a higher voltage power source

  3. Inspect the electrical connector at the remote valve for corrosion, moisture, or damaged pins that could cause a short circuit

  4. Verify the EHR valve electronic module configuration via the CAN diagnostic interface to ensure proper communication

Repair steps

  1. Prepare machine for service

Turn off the tractor, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery to ensure safety.

  2. Locate and disconnect valve

Locate Rear Remote Valve No. 1 at the rear hydraulic valve stack. Disconnect the electrical harness from the valve's solenoid/driver head.

  3. Test harness for shorts

Using a digital multimeter, test the harness for shorts to power. If a short is found in the wiring, repair or replace the damaged section of the harness.

  4. Replace remote control valve

If the wiring is intact and the tractor's charging system is operating at a normal voltage (approx. 12-14V), the internal circuitry of the remote valve's electronic module is likely faulty. Remove the faulty Rear Remote Control Valve No. 1 (or its electronic driver head) and install the replacement unit.

  5. Reassemble and test

Reconnect the battery, clear the fault codes using a diagnostic scan tool, and cycle the remote valve to ensure the code does not return and the spool moves correctly. Perform any necessary calibration via the VCM/EHR module.
