4107

Case IH 4107 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) / ATC (Auxiliary Tractor Control): Rear Remote No.1 - Spool Deflection Excessive

Issue description

This code indicates an internal valve fault, likely mechanical, where the spool inside the #1 rear remote valve has traveled beyond its calibrated or expected physical range.

Applies to these machines

  • Maxxum
  • Steiger T4B
  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Magnum
  • Magnum Series (235-340, MX210, MX215, MX230, MX245, MX255, MX275, MX285)
  • Puma Series (140, 150, 165, 180, 195, 210, 225)
  • Steiger Series
  • Maxxum / MXU Series (110, 115, 125, MXU100, MXU110, MXU115)

Check the cause

  1. Check for associated EHR error codes. Note them, clear the codes using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or a battery disconnect, and test the system for normal operation.

  2. Verify that the tractor's hydraulic pressure is correct, as incorrect pressure can force the spool to deflect abnormally.

  3. Check for surging or erratic flow when running a hydraulic motor (like a planter or air seeder vacuum fan), which points to a known design flaw rather than a standard failure.

Repair steps

  1. Clear and Retest

Clear the 4107 fault code. Cycle the key and operate the #1 remote. If the code does not return, it may have been a transient pressure spike.

  2. Address Pressure Issues

If the code returns, test the hydraulic pressure at the remotes. If the pressure is out of spec, diagnose the hydraulic pump and priority valve first.

  3. Address Surging/Erratic Flow (If Applicable)

If the code is accompanied by surging when running orbital motors, refer to Case IH Service Bulletin 2012-037. Install an updated flow control cartridge and/or an updated main spool that features an additional small hydraulic oil bleed.

  4. Replace the EHR Valve / Spool

If hydraulic pressure is correct and the code persists, the EHR valve has suffered an internal mechanical fault. Remove the #1 remote valve assembly from the rear valve stack.

  5. Reassembly and Calibration

Install the replacement EHR valve or updated spool. Once installed, you must use the tractor's display or the EST to perform a remote valve calibration so the EHR module can learn the travel limits of the new spool.
