4110

Case IH 4110 – ATC (Armrest Tractor Controller) or EHR (Electronic Hitch/Remote): Rear Remote No.1 - Output Stage Faulty

Issue description

This code indicates an electrical failure in the output circuit that drives the proportional solenoid/actuator for the first rear remote hydraulic valve. Technically, this means the controller detects an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to power, or an internal hardware failure within the remote valve's electronic actuator head.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Maxxum
  • Steiger T4B
  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Magnum 235
  • Magnum 260
  • Magnum 290
  • Magnum 315
  • Magnum 340

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at Rear Remote Valve No. 1 for dirt, corrosion, moisture, or pushed-back pins.

  2. Use a multimeter to check the wiring between the EHR/ATC module and the remote valve for continuity, shorts to ground, and shorts to 12V power.

  3. Perform a component isolation (swap test) by swapping the electrical connector from Rear Remote No. 1 with the connector for Rear Remote No. 2. If the fault code changes to the corresponding code for the second remote (e.g., 4114 or 4116), the electronic actuator on Valve No. 1 has failed internally. If the fault code remains 4110, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the ATC/EHR controller itself.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and cycle the remote levers/switches to relieve any trapped hydraulic pressure.

  2. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  3. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack with brake cleaner or a pressure washer to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system when the valve is removed.

  4. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the electrical harness from the Rear Remote No. 1 actuator.

  5. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the tie-rods or mounting bolts holding the remote valve assembly in the stack. Carefully separate the faulty valve from the stack.

  6. Install the New Valve

Install the replacement remote valve assembly. Crucial step: Always use new O-rings (e.g., 15.30 mm ID x 2.40 mm) between the valve slices to prevent internal and external leaks. Torque the stack bolts to OEM specifications.

  7. Reassemble

Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery.

  8. Calibration

Start the tractor and use the cab display (Pro 700 / IntelliView) or a dealer diagnostic tool to perform the remote valve calibration procedure. The system must learn the neutral, extend, and retract positions of the new spool.

  9. Test

Connect a hydraulic implement or flow meter to Remote No. 1 to verify proper operation and check for leaks.
