Case IH 4111 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) controller: Rear remote no. 1 - internal position sensor faulty

The internal position sensor (potentiometer) on the spool valve for the first rear remote hydraulic circuit is malfunctioning, providing an out-of-range signal, or has failed completely.

   Check for other EHR error codes, clear them using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or display, and test the system to see if the code returns

   Inspect the wiring harness between the position sensor and the ECU for physical damage

   Check connectors to ensure they are fully seated, not damaged, pins are in the correct position, and the fit is tight

   Perform a continuity test on the wiring harness to rule out an open circuit or a short to ground/power

   Clear and Retest

   If the fault code was a glitch and is no longer present after clearing, return the machine to proper operation.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring or loose pins in the connector, repair or replace the EHR control valve wire harness as required.

   Replace the Sensor/Valve

   If the sensor is mounted properly, the wiring harness is in good condition, and there is continuity, the sensor itself (or the EHR valve section it is integrated into) is defective and must be replaced.

   Recalibrate

   After replacing the potentiometer or the EHR valve section, you must recalibrate the valve spool. (Failure to do so will trigger related codes like 4216).

   Final Test

   Clear the error code and test the rear remote system for normal operation.
