Case IH 4116 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) Controller or ARM (Armrest) module: Rear Remote No.2 - Checksum Verification Failure

The internal memory or software checksum within the electronic controller of the #2 rear remote hydraulic valve has failed. The module has detected a bug or corruption in its own memory, which usually forces the remote valve to lock up or switch to a failsafe mode to prevent unintended hydraulic movement.

   Inspect the electrical connector at the #2 rear remote valve for water ingress, corrosion, bent pins, or dislocated wires

   Verify power supply and ground to the remote hydraulic controller (system voltage at the connector should be between 9.8 and 14.5 volts)

   Clear the error code using the tractor's display or service tool and retest to see if it was a transient glitch

   Perform a swap test by temporarily moving the electrical connection from Remote #2 to Remote #1 or #3 to see if the fault code changes to the new remote number, isolating the issue to the pilot head

   Turn off the tractor, lower all implements, and relieve all hydraulic system pressure.

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the Rear Remote No. 2 valve stack.

   Unbolt and remove the electronic pilot head/actuator from the hydraulic valve slice.

   Note: On some specific models, the pilot head cannot be serviced separately, and the entire remote valve section must be replaced.

   Install the new pilot head (or valve section) and torque to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Turn the key on and clear the stored fault codes.

   Perform the EHR lever and valve spool calibration procedure via the tractor's display or service tool.

   The system must learn the neutral and travel limits of the new valve module (Failure to do this will result in 'Valve Spool Not Calibrated' codes like 4217).
