Case IH 4139 – EHR (Electronic Hitch / Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No. 3 - Position Transducer Faulty

The system cannot accurately determine the position of the spool inside the #3 rear remote control valve because the internal position sensor/potentiometer is sending an invalid, out-of-range, or missing signal.

   Check the display for other active EHR error codes. Clear the codes and test the system for normal operation to see if code 4139 returns.

   Inspect the EHR control valve wire harness and the connectors between the rear remote #3 position sensor and the EHR ECU. Ensure connectors are fully seated, undamaged, and pins have a tight fit.

   Test for continuity in the wiring harness to rule out an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power.

   Relieve hydraulic pressure

   Ensure the tractor is turned off, the key is removed, and all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system.

   Locate valve stack

   Locate the rear remote valve stack at the rear of the tractor and identify slice No. 3.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the EHR control valve wire harness from the No. 3 remote valve.

   Replace sensor or valve section

   If the sensor is serviceable, remove the end cap/actuator head of the valve and replace the faulty spool position potentiometer. If the sensor is non-serviceable, replace the entire EHR valve section (slice) or the electronic actuator head assembly.

   Install and torque

   Install the new sensor or replacement valve section and torque mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the EHR wiring harness.

   Clear codes and calibrate

   Turn the key on, clear the fault codes using the electronic display or service tool, and perform a remote valve calibration procedure (if required by your specific model's service manual) to teach the EHR module the new neutral, extend, and retract positions.
