Case IH 4143 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) controller: Rear Remote No.4 -Implausible EHR Control Messages

The system is receiving a control message that is not plausible (illogical, corrupted, or out of the expected range) regarding the operation of the 4th rear remote valve.

   Verify CAN BUS wiring communication between the Rear Remote No. 4 valve and the XCM processor

   Inspect the electrical harness for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins that could cause erratic or implausible signal transmission

   Test the operator-controlled switches and levers on the armrest to ensure they are sending a clean, plausible signal to the microprocessor

   Check if the valve spool has lost its calibration, as uncalibrated spools can trigger EHR communication and neutral set-point errors

   Access components

   Power down the tractor and access the EHR valve stack at the rear of the machine and the corresponding wiring harness.

   Inspect wiring

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting Rear Remote No. 4 to the main CAN BUS system.

   Repair harness

   If the harness is damaged (a known issue on Magnum/T8 models), cut out the damaged section and install an OEM electrical harness repair kit to restore reliable electrical connections.

   Replace defective components

   If the wiring tests perfectly, the fault lies in either the armrest control switch or the remote valve's internal microprocessor. Replace the defective control switch or the Remote No. 4 valve slice.

   Reassemble

   Reassemble all components and turn the key on.

   Calibrate

   Perform a valve spool calibration procedure to ensure the new components or repaired harness communicate properly and the spool can be brought back to neutral.
