Case IH 4144 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.4 - Checksum Verification Failure

The internal memory (EEPROM) inside the electronic controller for the 4th rear remote valve has failed its internal checksum verification. The module's stored data or calibration parameters are corrupted, or the module has suffered an internal hardware memory failure.

   Cycle power to the tractor to see if the EEPROM error clears or if the valve fails to find neutral upon startup.

   Verify the voltage supply to the remote valve, as power irregularities can cause the module to malfunction or fail to read its memory properly.

   Attempt a recalibration of the rear remote valves using a diagnostic service tool or the tractor's display.

   Prepare tractor for service

   Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure, and disconnect the battery.

   Locate valve slice

   Locate the rear hydraulic valve stack and identify the slice for Rear Remote No. 4.

   Inspect wiring and connector

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector to the No. 4 remote for any signs of damage, corrosion, or poor connection that could be causing data loss.

   Remove defective valve

   If the wiring is intact, remove the defective Rear Remote No. 4 valve slice/electrohydraulic actuator from the valve stack.

   Install replacement valve

   Install the replacement electrohydraulic remote valve and torque the stack bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect wiring

   Reconnect the wiring harness to the new valve.

   Calibrate new valve

   Power on the tractor and perform the EHR remote valve calibration procedure using the tractor's display or electronic service tool so the EHR module can learn the new valve's parameters.
