Case IH 4146 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) or ATC (Armrest Tractor Controller): Rear Remote No. 4 - Under Voltage

The controller has detected that the electrical circuit operating the #4 rear remote control valve has dropped below the acceptable voltage threshold. This condition is typically caused by an open circuit, a short to ground, a damaged wiring harness, or a failed solenoid coil on the remote valve.

   Verify the tractor's overall battery and charging voltage (a general low battery condition can cause localized under-voltage codes across the EHR system)

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the #4 rear remote valve. On articulated models, specifically check the main harness in the articulation joint area for wires rubbed through at the 'P' clamps

   Disconnect the electrical plug at the #4 remote valve (both top and bottom solenoids) and check for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-back pins

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance (ohms) across the pins of the #4 remote valve solenoids to check for an open circuit or burnt-out coil

   Swap the electrical connector from the #4 remote to an adjacent known-good remote (like #3). If the fault code changes to #3, the solenoid is faulty. If it remains on #4, the issue is in the wiring harness or EHR controller

   Relieve hydraulic pressure

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic pressure by cycling the remote levers/switches.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the negative battery cable to protect the EHR modules.

   Locate valve block

   Locate the #4 rear remote valve block at the rear of the tractor.

   Repair harness

   If repairing the harness: Splice and repair any rubbed-through wires found during the diagnostic inspection using weather-sealed heat-shrink connectors, then re-secure the harness with new clamps.

   Replace solenoid

   If replacing the solenoid: Remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid stem on the #4 valve. Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge and install the new replacement coil. Secure the nut and plug the harness back in.

   Replace valve section

   If replacing the entire valve section (due to internal failure): Unbolt the #4 valve section from the hydraulic stack tie-rods. Remove the section, replace the O-rings between the valve slices, install the new valve section, and torque the tie-rod bolts to OEM specifications.

   Clear fault codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the stored fault codes from the display.

   Test operation

   Start the tractor and test the #4 remote for proper operation.
