Case IH 415 – Engine Control Unit (ENG / Engine ECU): Oil Pressure level has fallen below the very low warning limit

The system has detected critically low engine oil pressure, a severe condition that can lead to catastrophic engine failure if the equipment continues to be operated.

   Check the engine oil dipstick immediately to ensure the engine actually has sufficient oil.

   Inspect the engine block, oil pan, and filter area for any severe external oil leaks.

   Inspect the engine oil pressure sensor, its 3-pin connector, and the wiring harness for damage, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Connect a mechanical oil pressure gauge directly to the engine block to verify the actual oil pressure to determine if there is a genuine mechanical failure or a sensor failure.

   Address Fluid Levels

   If the oil level is low but no major leaks are found, top off the engine oil to the correct specification and re-test.

   Sensor Replacement

   If the mechanical gauge confirms that the engine has healthy, normal oil pressure but the ECU is still logging Code 415, the oil pressure sensor is faulty. Disconnect the wiring harness, unthread the old sensor, install the new OEM sensor, and clear the fault codes.

   Harness Repair

   If the sensor tests fine but the voltage reading at the ECU is incorrect, trace the wiring harness back to the Engine ECU and repair any shorts or breaks in the supply, ground, or signal wires.

   Mechanical Engine Repair

   If the mechanical gauge confirms that the engine oil pressure is actually below the critical limit, do not run the engine. The engine will require mechanical teardown to diagnose and replace failing internal components, which may include a clogged oil pickup tube, a stuck pressure relief valve, a failed oil pump, or worn engine bearings.
