4160

Case IH 4160 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) controller: Rear remote no. 5 - under voltage.

Issue description

The control unit has detected that the voltage signal on the circuit for the number 5 rear remote valve has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically points to an open circuit, a short to ground, or a failed component.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Maxxum
  • Steiger T4B
  • Case IH Magnum Series
  • Case IH Puma Series

Check the cause

  1. Consult the schematic (often frame 76) to identify the specific connector for remote No. 5.

  2. Inspect EHR valve connector C206 for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion.

  3. Test the wiring harness between the EHR controller and the valve for continuity, open circuits, or shorts to ground.

  4. If wiring and connector are intact, test the EHR valve for an internal electrical fault.

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Wiring Issues

Clean, repair, or replace the EHR valve connector C206 or the affected harness section if damage is found.

  2. Replace the Valve

If the fault is still present after verifying the harness and connector, remove and replace the faulty EHR valve section.

  3. Configure the Valve

Newly installed EHR valves may need to be configured or calibrated using the dealer Electronic Service Tool (EST).

  4. Clear Codes

Once the physical repair is complete, clear the error code from the EHR controller.

  5. Test Operation

Actuate the rear remote manually and via the cab controls to test the system for normal operation.
