Case IH 4167 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote): Rear remote no. 5 - internal position sensor faulty

The engine control unit or hydraulic controller has detected that the internal position sensor (potentiometer/transducer) for the 5th rear remote control valve is defective, sending an out-of-range signal, or failing to track the spool's position.

   Visually inspect electrical connectors to the #5 rear remote valve for damage, corrosion, and tight fit

   Inspect the wiring harness between the position sensor and the EHR ECU for physical damage or shorts

3. 3

   Perform a continuity test between the sensor connector and the ECU to isolate the fault to the sensor

   Verify that the sensor is mounted properly on the valve body

   Locate the #5 rear remote control valve slice at the rear hydraulic manifold of the tractor.

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the faulty position sensor/potentiometer on the #5 valve.

   Remove the defective internal position sensor/transducer from the remote valve body.

   On some electronic remote valves, the sensor is integrated into the electronic pilot head/control module that bolts to the valve slice, requiring replacement of that specific module.

   Install the new position sensor or pilot head module and ensure it is mounted properly.

   Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring a tight fit.

   Turn the key on and use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's display to clear the error code.

   Test the #5 rear remote system for proper operation.

   Ensure the spool can now be read accurately and brought back to neutral.

   Calibrate the remote valve lever.

   A calibration of the remote valve lever may be required after replacing EHR components.
