Case IH 4191 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) Control Unit / ECU: Rear remote no. 2 - no communications

The tractor's control network has lost CAN bus communication with the electronic actuator (pilot head) on the number 2 rear remote hydraulic valve.

   Locate the #2 rear remote valve and perform a visual inspection of the unit.

   Check electrical connectors at the valve and the ECU to ensure they are fully connected, undamaged, free of corrosion, and tight.

   Disconnect connectors and check the wiring harness between the EHR valve and the ECU for continuity and shorts to ground.

   Repair or replace harness/connector

   If the diagnostic checks reveal a loose pin, damaged connector, or broken wire, repair or replace the harness/connector as required.

   Replace EHR valve section or pilot head

   If the wiring and CAN bus communication lines are intact, the fault is likely internal to the EHR valve's electronic pilot head. Replace the faulty EHR valve section or pilot head.

   Reassign and calibrate valve

   If you change out the pilot head or the entire valve section, the new valve must be reassigned and calibrated using the tractor's display or the Electronic Service Tool (EST) so the ECU recognizes it.

   Clear codes and test

   Once the physical repair and calibration are complete, clear the error code and test the hydraulic system for normal operation.
