Case IH 4303 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.6 - Checksum Verification Failure
Issue description
The internal memory (EEPROM) of the electro-hydraulic valve section for rear remote #6 has detected a checksum mismatch. The configuration data or software stored on the valve's internal controller is corrupted, unreadable, or failing to communicate properly.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Magnum
- Steiger T4B
- Magnum series (235-340 Series 4)
- Steiger series (350-600, Quadtrac, Rowtrac)
- Puma series
Check the cause
Check for other active EHR error codes. Make a note of them, clear the codes, and test the system for normal operation to see if 4303 returns (voltage drops or CAN issues can trigger false EEPROM codes).
Turn the ignition switch OFF and measure the resistance on the CAN BUS circuit (typically between connector C207 pin 2 and C207 pin 3). The resistance should be approximately 120 Ohms.
If the resistance is not approximately 120 Ohms, inspect the CAN BUS terminators and wiring harness for failure.
Repair steps
Resolve CAN/Wiring Issues
If the CAN BUS resistance test failed, locate and replace the faulty CAN BUS terminator or repair the wiring harness.
Software Flash
If the wiring and resistance are good (120 Ohms), connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).
Reconfigure Valve
Download the correct level of software into the EHR valve and configure the EHR valve using the EST.
Retest
Clear the error code and test the system for normal operation.
Replace Valve
If the fault code 4303 is still present after the software update, the EEPROM inside the valve is permanently failed. You must remove the faulty EHR valve section (Rear Remote No. 6) and install a replacement.
Calibrate
Once the new valve slice is installed, use the EST to configure and calibrate the new EHR valve section.
Parts you might need
(2)Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Valve Section / Slice
719411264Example generic add-on EH remote slice kit. Exact replacement slice must match the tractor's existing valve stack based on PIN/Serial number.
CAN BUS Terminator
Only required if the diagnostic resistance test fails.
