Case IH 4308 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.6 - Spool Deflection Excessive

The internal spool of the #6 rear electro-hydraulic remote valve has traveled beyond its calibrated or physically allowable range.

   Check for other active EHR error codes. Make a note of them, clear the codes, and test the system for normal operation to see if 4308 returns.

   Verify hydraulic pressure with a gauge. Incorrect hydraulic pressure (such as pressure spikes or improper standby pressure) can physically force the spool to over-travel.

   Inspect the electrical connections and CAN BUS wiring at the Rear Remote No. 6 valve for corrosion, pushed pins, or harness damage.

   Attempt an EHR valve calibration and renumbering procedure using the tractor's electronic service tool or in-cab diagnostic menu to reset the controller's known neutral and end-of-travel limits.

   Relieve Pressure

   Turn off the tractor, lower all implements, and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system.

   Clear and Retest

   Connect a diagnostic tool or use the cab display to clear the 4308 fault code. Operate the #6 rear remote to see if the code immediately returns.

   Inspect Connections

   Disconnect the wiring harness connecting to the #6 EHR valve. Clean the connector contacts with electrical contact cleaner and ensure they are seated properly.

   Calibrate

   Run the EHR valve calibration procedure.

   Replace the Valve

   If calibration fails, the code persists, or the spool is physically sticking, the internal position transducer or the mechanical spool within the #6 EHR valve is faulty.

   Removal

   Unbolt the faulty #6 EHR valve section from the rear remote valve stack (ensure hydraulic fluid is drained or capped to prevent excessive loss).

   Installation

   Install the replacement EHR valve section and torque the stack bolts to OEM specifications.

   Software Configuration

   Reassemble the valve stack, restore hydraulic fluid, and perform the EHR valve renumbering and calibration procedure so the central controller recognizes the new valve.
