Case IH 4310 – EHR / TCU: Rear Remote No. 6 - Manual Operation / Error At Solenoid Power Supply VPS2
Issue description
Depending on the module, indicates either the EHR controller detects the spool valve for the 6th rear remote is being moved manually (or the position transducer is falsely reporting manual movement), or the TCU detects a voltage or circuit failure on the power supply line to the transmission solenoids (VPS2).
Applies to these machines
7 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- VESTRUM CVX
- Magnum Series (235–340 Series 4)
- STX Steiger Series (350–600 HP)
- Puma Series
- Maxxum Series
- Optum Series
Check the cause
For EHR cause (Rear Remote No. 6): Visually inspect the physical spool valve for Rear Remote No. 6 to ensure the manual override lever is not stuck, bound by dirt/debris, or inadvertently engaged.
For EHR cause: Verify the position transducer on Remote No. 6. If no one is touching the valve, the sensor may be failing and falsely reporting manual movement.
For EHR cause: Inspect the wiring harness connecting the EHR controller to the Rear Remote No. 6 valve block for shorts or open circuits.
For Transmission cause (VPS2 Error): Check the voltage at the VPS2 power supply circuit on the transmission control valve.
For Transmission cause: Inspect the transmission solenoid harness for rubbed or pinched wires causing a short to ground or an open circuit.
Repair steps
Park and relieve pressure
Park the machine safely on level ground, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic pressure.
Clean area
Clean the area around the rear remote valves to prevent system contamination.
Inspect and lubricate linkage
Inspect the manual operation linkage on Remote No. 6. Lubricate or free up the linkage if it is physically stuck or corroded.
Disconnect transducer
If the linkage is free but the code persists, disconnect the electrical connector to the position transducer on Remote No. 6.
Test and replace transducer
Test the transducer with a multimeter. If it is reading out of range (falsely indicating manual movement), remove and replace the transducer/sensor cap.
Reconnect and clear codes
Reconnect the harness, power on the tractor, and clear the fault codes via the AFS Pro display to verify the repair.
