Case IH 4316 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) control module: Rear Remote No.7 - Implausible EHR Control Messages

The control module is receiving signal data (via the CAN bus) regarding the 7th rear hydraulic remote valve that is corrupted, out of the expected parameter range, or logically impossible. This prevents the system from safely operating that specific hydraulic circuit.

   Inspect the EHR valve connector (often designated as C207 or similar) at the rear remote stack. Ensure it is fully seated, not damaged, and free of dirt, moisture, or corrosion.

   Check the wiring harness between the cab controls (armrest/joystick) and the rear EHR valve for chafing, pinched wires, or open circuits.

   Check for CAN BUS interference or other active CAN communication fault codes that might be corrupting the messages.

   Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor the inputs from the in-cab control lever and verify if the physical lever movement matches the digital signal being broadcasted.

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect battery power

   This prevents electrical shorts during service.

   Locate Rear Remote Valve No. 7

   Find it at the rear hydraulic valve stack.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the valve

   Clean the pins with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease.

   Inspect and test the wiring harness for continuity

   Test from the valve back to the EHR controller. Repair any damaged wires.

   Replace the faulty component

   If the wiring and CAN bus communication are verified as intact, the fault lies in either a failed internal circuit board on the EHR valve itself or a faulty in-cab control lever/joystick sending bad data.

   Reconnect the battery

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST)

   Use the EST to clear fault code 4316.

   Start the tractor, actuate the remote lever, and test the hydraulic system

   Test for normal operation to ensure the code does not return.
