Case IH 4318 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote): Rear remote no. 7 - not commanded neutral on power-up
Issue description
This condition occurs when the system powers up and the controller detects that the spool valve for rear remote #7 is not in its neutral position, or the neutral set point has not been commanded/calibrated correctly.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- Magnum
- Steiger T4B
- Case IH Magnum 235 - 340 (Series 4)
- Case IH Steiger series
Check the cause
Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or use the tractor's diagnostic display to check for any other active EHR codes.
Make a note of any error codes, clear them from the system, and cycle the key/power to test the system for normal operation.
If the fault code does not return, the system operation is normal. If the fault is still present, proceed to the repair procedure.
Repair steps
Software/Configuration Check
Ensure the EHR controller has the correct level of software downloaded. Attempt to re-configure and calibrate the EHR valve using the Electronic Service Tool.
Valve Replacement
If the valve fails calibration or the fault immediately reoccurs on power-up, the internal sensors/solenoids of the valve have failed.
Remove the faulty EHR valve section
Locate rear remote valve #7 on the rear hydraulic stack. Safely relieve hydraulic pressure and remove the valve section.
Install the new valve
Bolt the new EHR valve section into the hydraulic stack and reconnect the electrical harness.
Configure the new valve
You must use the dealer Electronic Service Tool to download the correct software configuration to the new EHR valve section and calibrate its neutral set point.
Parts you might need
(1)EHR Valve Section (Rear Remote Spool Valve)
Specific OEM part numbers vary heavily based on the exact tractor model, hydraulic pump flow rate, and valve stack configuration. When replacing an EHR valve section, it is not a 'plug-and-play' repair. The new valve must be electronically configured and calibrated to the tractor's EHR module for the neutral set point to be recognized.
