Case IH 4321 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.7 - Spool Deflection Too Short

The internal spool of the electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve #7 is not traveling the expected distance when commanded by the controller. This condition is typically caused by mechanical binding within the valve, incorrect hydraulic pressure, or a faulty internal position transducer.

   Check for other active EHR error codes (such as under/over voltage or transducer faults) that might be causing the spool deflection issue

   Verify that the system is producing the correct hydraulic standby and operating pressure, as low pressure can prevent the spool from fully deflecting

   Inspect the valve spool for mechanical binding caused by debris, contamination, or internal mechanical failure

   Test the internal position transducer to ensure it is not failing and falsely reporting a short deflection

   Address and clear any other leading active EHR faults first.

   Test the hydraulic system pressure.

   If the pressure is incorrect, diagnose the hydraulic pump or priority valve circuit before condemning the remote valve.

   Remove and inspect the No. 7 EHR valve.

   If pressure is correct, remove and inspect the valve. Clean the spool and bore to ensure there is no debris causing mechanical binding.

   Replace the EHR valve assembly.

   If the valve is internally damaged, or if the position transducer/output stage has failed, replace the EHR valve assembly.

   Clear the error code.

   Once the mechanical or electrical cause has been rectified, use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's display monitor to clear the error code.

   Test the rear remote system under load for normal operation to verify the code does not return.
