Case IH 4328 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.7 - Spool Not in Neutral When Switched On

The system has detected that the internal spool for the 7th rear electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve is not resting in its center/neutral position when the tractor's ignition is turned on. This is typically caused by the ignition being switched off while the valve was actively operated, or the spool being physically stuck due to hydraulic fluid contamination.

   Determine if the operator shut the tractor down while the #7 remote lever/switch was engaged or while hydraulic flow was active

   Check the tractor's maintenance logs to verify if hydraulic fluid and filter change intervals have been exceeded

   Use the tractor's display or an Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the error code and test the system for normal operation

   Clear and Retest

   Clear fault code 4328 from the EHR module. Cycle the ignition key off, then back on.

   Function Test

   If the code does not return upon key-on, test Rear Remote No. 7 for normal operation. If it works normally, the fault was caused by operator error (shutting off the ignition during valve operation), and the issue is resolved.

   Address Contamination

   If the code immediately returns or the remote is physically locked out, the spool is stuck. Drain the hydraulic fluid and replace the hydraulic filters, as contamination is likely present.

   Valve Inspection

   If fresh fluid and filters do not unstick the spool, the Rear Remote No. 7 EHR valve section must be removed from the rear valve stack.

   Clean or Replace

   Disassemble the affected EHR valve section. Inspect the spool and bore for scoring, metal shavings, or debris. If the spool can be cleaned and moves freely, reassemble it. If the spool or valve body is scored or damaged, the entire remote valve section must be replaced.
