Case IH 4329 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) Controller / Central Controller: Rear remote no. 8 - no control message received
Issue description
Communication failure on the tractor's CAN BUS network. The control module is failing to receive the expected electronic control messages from the Electronic Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve #8.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- Magnum
- Steiger T4B
- Puma
Check the cause
Inspect connector C208 at the rear remote #8 to ensure it is fully seated, wires are not damaged or chafed, pins are in the correct position, and terminal fit is tight.
Test the CAN BUS voltage at the remote harness connector C208 with the ignition ON. Measure voltage at C208 Pin 2 (Green) to chassis ground (expected 2.2 - 2.5 V).
Measure the voltage at C208 Pin 3 (Yellow) to chassis ground to verify the other side of the CAN communication line.
Verify the CAN BUS wiring continuity between the rear remotes and the central controller.
Repair steps
Resolve Wiring Issues
If the diagnostic checks reveal out-of-spec voltages, damaged pins, or broken wires, repair or replace the affected section of the wiring harness or connector C208.
Replace the EHR Valve
If the harness and CAN BUS voltages test within specification but the module still cannot communicate with remote #8, the EHR valve's internal electronics have likely failed and the valve must be replaced.
Software Reload (If Necessary)
If the valves remain inoperative after wiring repairs and valve checks, reload the software into the central controller. If it is still inoperative after a re-flash, the central processor may need to be replaced.
Clear and Test
Once the root cause has been rectified, use the Electronic Service Tool to clear the error code and test the hydraulic system for normal operation.
Parts you might need
(3)EHR Valve (Electronic Hydraulic Remote Valve)
Generic part name for the rear remote slice.
Connector C208 / Wiring Harness Pigtail
Generic part name for the electrical connector plugging into the EHR valve.
Central Controller / Processor
Generic part name (only required if the module itself has failed and will not accept a software flash).
