Case IH 4330 – EHR: Rear Remote No.8 - Implausible EHR Control Messages
Issue description
The control module is receiving an invalid, out-of-range, or illogical signal over the CAN bus network regarding the 8th rear remote valve. The system cannot verify the spool position or the command state of this specific hydraulic remote.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Magnum
- Steiger T4B
- Case IH Magnum 235 – 340 (Series 4)
- Case IH Steiger (STX 350 – 600)
- Case IH Puma series
Check the cause
Inspect the specific EHR valve connector (e.g., connector C208) at the No. 8 rear remote. Ensure it is securely connected, free of corrosion, and not damaged.
Inspect the wiring harness for physical damage. Check for CAN BUS interference or continuity issues between the rear remotes and the central controller.
Clear the error code using an Electronic Service Tool (or in-cab diagnostic menu) and test the system for normal operation to see if the code returns, as CAN bus errors can sometimes be transient.
Repair steps
Resolve Wiring Issues
If harness damage or CAN bus interference was found during diagnostics, repair the broken wires or replace the affected harness section.
Replace the EHR Valve
If the connector and harness are intact but the code persists, the failure mode is a faulty EHR valve. Remove the No. 8 rear remote valve assembly and install a replacement.
Software/Controller Check
If the new valve does not resolve the issue, reload the software into the central controller. If it is still inoperative, the processor itself may need replacement.
Renumbering / Calibration
After replacing an EHR valve, you must perform an EHR valve renumbering procedure so the control module can configure and recognize the new valve on the CAN bus.
Parts you might need
(1)Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Valve (Rear Remote Valve)
Exact part numbers vary heavily depending on the specific tractor family and the machine's serial number/PIN. Ensure you are replacing the valve in the No. 8 position on the valve stack. Verify if the valve requires a separate position transducer or if it is sold as a sealed, complete spool valve assembly.
