Case IH 4331 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.8 - Checksum Verification Failure

The internal memory (EEPROM) on the electronic controller for the 8th rear remote hydraulic valve has failed a data integrity check (checksum). The control module is unable to verify the software or calibration data stored on that specific valve section.

   Check for any other active EHR error codes that might indicate a broader CAN-BUS communication issue or voltage drop

   Document and clear the error code(s) using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's diagnostic display

   Cycle the key power and test the rear remote system for normal operation, as checksum errors can sometimes be triggered by a transient voltage spike

   Isolate the Valve

   Locate the Rear Remote No. 8 valve section on the rear hydraulic stack.

   Replace the Valve

   Remove the faulty EHR valve section and install a new replacement unit.

   Renumber the EHR Valves

   Once the new valve is installed, perform the EHR valve renumbering procedure via the tractor's display or EST to configure the central controller to recognize the new valve's CAN address and assign it to the correct in-cab lever.

   Calibrate and Test

   Clear any remaining fault codes and run a hydraulic calibration/function test to ensure the new remote operates correctly.
