Case IH 4334 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear remote no. 8 - over voltage

The EHR controller has detected an over-voltage condition on the circuit specifically monitoring Rear Remote Valve No. 8. This indicates that the voltage returning from the remote valve's position transducer or solenoid circuit is higher than the maximum threshold.

   Check External Power: Ensure the tractor's battery has not been connected to an external power supply (such as a high-voltage jump starter or faulty battery charger).

   Test the Charging System: Use a multimeter at the battery with the engine running to verify the alternator is not overcharging the system (voltage should not exceed ~14.5V).

   Inspect the Wiring Harness: Disconnect the electrical connector at the Rear Remote No. 8 valve. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals. Check the harness for any chafing that could cause a short to a 12V power source.

   Clear and Retest: If a temporary surge caused the code, use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's display to clear the error code and test the system for normal operation to see if the fault returns.

   Relieve Pressure

   Turn off the tractor and cycle the remote levers/buttons to relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical harness connector from the No. 8 rear remote valve.

   Remove Hydraulic Lines

   Mark and disconnect the hydraulic lines attached to the specific valve section. Cap all lines and fittings immediately to prevent contamination.

   Unbolt the Valve

   Remove the tie-bolts holding the rear remote valve stack together. Carefully slide the faulty EHR valve section out of the stack.

   Install the New Valve

   Insert the replacement EHR valve section, ensuring all O-rings between the valve slices are properly seated. Torque the stack tie-bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness.

   Calibrate

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port. You must configure and calibrate the new EHR valve section so the controller recognizes its spool travel limits.
