Case IH 4336 – EHR: Rear Remote No.8 - Spool Deflection Excessive

This code indicates that the internal spool of the number 8 rear remote valve has traveled further than the commanded position or its calibrated limits. This is typically caused by incorrect hydraulic pressure supplied to the valve block or a mechanical/electrical failure within the specific Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve section itself.

   Check the display for any other active EHR error codes (such as under/over voltage or CAN-bus errors). Make a note of them, clear the codes, and test the system for normal operation to see if 4336 returns.

   Ensure the tractor is not connected to an external power supply (like a jump starter) that could cause voltage spikes. Start the engine and run at 2000 RPM; verify battery voltage is between 11 Volts and 15 Volts.

   Check the regulated hydraulic pressure (low pressure standby and high pressure standby) supplied to the remote manifold.

   Check the CAN-bus wiring harness and connectors between the rear remotes and the central controller for corrosion, pushed pins, or damage.

   Clear and Retest

   Clear the fault code using the tractor's display or an Electronic Service Tool (EST). Operate the #8 remote lever to see if the fault is active or was just a stored anomaly.

   Hydraulic Supply Correction

   If the code returns and your diagnostic pressure tests showed incorrect standby pressures, adjust or repair the hydraulic pump compensator/supply components as required.

   Software Update and Calibration

   If the hydraulic pressure is correct, connect the EST and download the latest software level into the EHR valve. Once updated, perform the EHR valve calibration/renumbering procedure to teach the valve its neutral, extend, and retract limits.

   Valve Replacement

   If the fault re-occurs after software configuration and calibration, the internal position transducer or the mechanical spool inside the #8 EHR valve is defective. You must remove the #8 EHR valve section from the rear manifold stack, replace it with a new section, and use the EST (or the tractor's H-menu) to configure and calibrate the new valve.
