Case IH 4339 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.8 - Output Stage Faulty
Issue description
An electrical failure in the output driver circuit that controls the spool for the #8 rear remote valve. The system has detected that the electrical signal or drive current to the proportional valve actuator is out of specification, which can be caused by an internal EEPROM error, a short/open in the wiring, or a physical failure of the valve's electronic control section.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Magnum
- Steiger T4B
- Case IH Magnum Series
- Case IH STX Steiger Series
- Case IH Puma Series
Check the cause
Check for associated active EHR error codes (such as 4330 Position Transducer Faulty or 4341 Spool Cannot be Brought Back to Neutral). Clear them using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or in-cab display, and test to see if code 4339 returns.
Inspect the CAN BUS wiring and the specific electrical connector at the #8 rear remote valve for corrosion, moisture, or damaged pins.
Use the tractor's display or EST to perform the EHR valve renumbering procedure to ensure the central controller is correctly communicating with the valve stack.
If the wiring is intact and the valve will not renumber or calibrate, reload the software into the central controller.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Ensure the tractor is off, implements are lowered, and hydraulic pressure is relieved from the rear remotes.
Disconnect the Battery
Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Isolate the Valve
Locate the #8 EHR valve section at the rear hydraulic block. Disconnect the electrical harness from the valve actuator.
Replace the EHR Valve Section
Remove the tie-bolts or mounting hardware securing the #8 valve section to the hydraulic stack. Remove the faulty proportional valve/actuator assembly.
Install the New Valve
Install the replacement EHR valve section using new O-rings between the valve slices. Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.
Reconnect and Calibrate
Reconnect the electrical harness and battery. Turn the key on and use the in-cab display or EST to perform the EHR valve renumbering and calibration procedure so the system recognizes the new valve's EEPROM.
Test
Clear any stored fault codes and operate the #8 remote lever to verify proper extension, retraction, and float functions. (Note: If the fault persists after valve replacement, the central processor/controller itself may be faulty and require replacement.)
