Case IH 4340 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Remote) control module: Rear remote control valve No. 8 - internal position sensor defective

The system has detected a failure in the spool position potentiometer inside the 8th rear remote valve. Because of this, the control module cannot accurately determine the physical position of the valve's internal spool, which disables or limits the function of that specific hydraulic remote.

   Check for any other related EHR error codes and make a note of them

   Clear the error code(s) using an Electronic Service Tool and test the hydraulic system for normal operation to see if the code was an intermittent glitch

   Verify the software level. Download the correct/latest level of software and attempt to reconfigure and calibrate the EHR valve

   Relieve hydraulic pressure

   Relieve all hydraulic system pressure before servicing the valve stack.

   Locate valve section

   Locate the rear remote valve stack and identify section No. 8.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the electrical harness connected to the No. 8 EHR valve section.

   Remove valve section

   Remove the mounting bolts securing the valve stack and carefully extract the defective EHR valve section.

   Replace valve section

   Replace the faulty EHR valve section with a new unit (the internal potentiometer is typically not serviced separately from the valve section on modern CNH EHR valves).

   Reassemble valve stack

   Reassemble the valve stack and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Configure and calibrate

   Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool to configure and calibrate the newly installed EHR valve section.

   Clear codes and test

   Clear any remaining fault codes and test the remote for proper operation.
