Case IH 4341 – EHR: Rear Remote No.8 - Spool Cannot be Brought Back to Neutral

The system has detected that the hydraulic spool for the 8th rear remote valve is failing to return to its center (neutral) position when commanded. This condition is typically caused by a faulty internal spool position potentiometer (sensor), a failure in the pilot head/EHR valve section, or mechanical binding within the valve.

   Check for associated active EHR error codes (such as 4342 or 4346), clear them, and test if the fault returns

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the #8 rear remote valve for damage, corrosion, or loose pins

   Verify that hydraulic pilot pressures are correct according to the service manual

   Attempt to recalibrate the remote valve levers via the A-post display or armrest

   Software Configuration

   Connect the electronic service tool. Download the correct level of software and reconfigure the EHR valve. If the fault re-occurs, the valve section must be replaced.

   Relieve Pressure

   Shut off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic system pressure before servicing the valve block.

   Disconnect Electrical

   Unplug the EHR control valve wire harness from the #8 remote valve section.

   Remove the Valve Section

   Unbolt the faulty EHR valve section (or the electronic pilot head, depending on the specific valve stack configuration) from the rear remote manifold.

   Install the New Part

   Mount the replacement EHR valve section, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated, and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect and Calibrate

   Reconnect the wiring harness. You must use the electronic service tool or the in-cab calibration procedure to configure and calibrate the new EHR valve section so the controller learns the new potentiometer's neutral position.

   Clear all stored error codes and test the #8 remote for normal operation.
