Case IH 4349 – EHR: Rear remote no. 8 - no communications

The tractor's control network has lost CAN bus communication with the electronic spool valve for rear remote number 8. The system cannot detect the valve, preventing any electro-hydraulic commands from being sent to or received from that specific remote.

   Check for related codes using an Electronic Service Tool or the tractor's display (if multiple remotes are offline, the issue is likely upstream in the CAN network)

   Inspect connectors at rear remote valve #8 to ensure they are fully seated, not damaged, and that pins are in the correct position with a tight fit

   Test the wiring harness between the EHR controller and the remote valve for continuity, open circuits, or shorts to ground/power

   Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring issue, repair or replace the damaged section of the EHR wiring harness or the specific connector.

   If the harness and connectors test good (verifying power, ground, and CAN signals are reaching the valve), remove the faulty rear remote valve #8 from the hydraulic manifold stack.

   This indicates the EHR valve itself has failed internally.

   Install the new electronic spool valve and torque the mounting bolts to factory specifications.

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the new valve.
